Behavioral Consultation

Children with behavioral challenges often need ongoing behavioral consultation throughout the year. Ready2Learn is able to provide consultation services to a child's educational team on a regular basis. Ongoing staff training, program development, and data collection are typically included through the consultation process. The frequency and duration of such services varies depending on the needs of the child and the educational team. Behavioral consultation often includes:
Assessment
- Formal and informal observations of the student across multiple settings
- Interviews with parents, teachers, and other individuals involved with the student
- Review of pertinent records
- Periodic reassessment of student, staff, and program needs
Education
- Discussion of behavioral supports and strategies that can be implemented in the classroom
Planning
- Based on a careful review of all assessment information, a multidisciplinary plan is considered and discussed prior to implementation
Intervention
- Regularly scheduled consultative and direct service designed to discuss and model effective strategies and supports
- Implementation and support of positive behavior plans aimed at decreasing negative behaviors and teaching new behaviors
- Promotion of response strategies that prepare staff for proper handling of challenging behaviors when they occur despite the implementation of proactive supports
