Intelligence Testing in the Schools: Understanding the WISC-IV

The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - 4th Edition (WISC-IV) is the most widely used measure of intelligence in the world. It is likely incorporated into almost every assessment battery administered, private or public, to assist with Special Education eligibility decisions. So, why the popularity? What's all the excitement about? Do you know what your School Psychologist means when he says, "The base rate difference in the PRI from the VCI was 5%."?
This workshop, designed for general and special education teachers, will provide a common understanding of the WISC-IV by exploring its component parts as well as the underlying framework of intelligence on which it was developed. A broader and more practical theory of intelligence will also be presented to provide attendees with a manner in which to conceptualize the WISC-IV, as well as other cognitive batteries, from which practical intervention can be pursued. Opportunities for questions and case discussion will also be included.
