Psychological Assessment

Notes

Ready 2 Learn also offers comprehensive psychological assessment services for students and their families. Often, such assessments are sought to gain information regarding a child's learning profile of strengths and challenges. Assessment involves the process of gathering information about a student with individual testing being one component of that process. Assessment services often include:

Assessment

  • Family interview to gather background information and to discuss areas of concern
  • Review of educational, medical, and other records as needed and allowed
  • Completion of a structured developmental history for a thorough understanding of the child's life
  • Formal and informal observations that may occur at school, home, or in the community
  • Individual testing designed to respond to areas of concern and answer specific referral questions - individual testing may include:
    • Cognitive processes
    • Memory and learning
    • Attention/self-regulation
    • Executive skills
    • Language
    • Visual-spatial processing
    • Social/emotional/behavioral functioning

Education

  • Assessment results are compiled and presented in a comprehensive psychological report
  • The assessment process is completed during a feedback session with the child's family and Ready2Learn staff where results can be explored, questions asked, and recommendations offered
